Busy Weekend for EFC Women's Foilists!

The weekend at the start of February saw our women's foilists scattered around Europe!

Catriona Sibert represented Great Britain at the senior World Cup in Gdansk (Poland) as a result of Catriona's current GB ranking (she's GB No.4). Catriona has also been selected to fence for Britain at forthcoming World Cup events in Budapest (Hungary) and St. Petersburg (Russia).

Chloe Dickson and Katie Smith meanwhile were in action in Lyon (France), representing Great Britain in a junior (u20) World Cup. Both girls performed well in their pools, Chloe winning 4 and dropping 2 and Katie on fire winning her pool with 5 victories and 1 defeat! Katie lost her L64 bout 15-10 finishing 35th overall and Chloe lost her L64 bout 15-9 finishing 43rd. Had Chloe won her bout she would have next been drawn against the eventual winner Pauline Ranvier (France), who Chloe beat when they met in the Luxenbourg World Cup.

Back in Britain, Lisa McKenzie and Ruth Clarke were in action in a British open event (Slough Open) in London. After the pools both were undefeated and they were seeded 1st= and 5th respectively. Lisa went out in the quarter finals against Peretti (Italy) but Ruth powered on to the final, losing to Szokolovics to finish an excellent 2nd (photo below).
