Covid-19 Update - Club is open

We are open!

All sessions are currently on and are likely to remain so, unless the schools close.

However if you are social distancing or self isolating, Please Stay Away.

Having your own kit will minimise the risk of catching Covid-19 or any other virus.

As you will be aware, it is existing club policy that all fencers should be acquiring their own kit from six months of entering the sport. Although we have in the past been fairly relaxed on this policy, the current situation has forced us to take the decision that all fencers must now have their own glove, and ideally mask.

Paul Neal-MacLachlan (Club Chairman) and Martin Buckley (Armourer) will have a number of gloves for sale at sessions over the coming weeks. If they do not have your size in stock, they will order one for you with free delivery. They will also be happy to take orders for masks, and discuss any other kit requirements you may have.

Use of Club Kit at Own Risk

We are currently attempting to source appropriate cleaning materials suitable for our specialist equipment, and will continue to do so. In the meantime use of any club equipment will be at your own risk. We particularly ask parents to be mindful of this ahead of our regular Cadet Classes on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Wash your Hands

Anyone attending a session is asked to please wash hands when you arrive at the school before entering the hall, and again at the end of the session. This is particularly important for fencers who are needing to borrow a club glove, whilst waiting for an order to be delivered.

Elbow bumps or a salute should replace hand shaking.

Keep Fencing!

Fencing is our focus and anyone with their own kit will be encouraged to keep fencing. However it may be necessary for our Wednesday and Thursday Cadet Class coaches to adjust the format of the session, putting more focus on activities such as fitness, games and footwork. Classes will also need to finish slightly earlier, to allow the coaches time to sanitise any club masks which have been used.

Please keep up to date with Government advice, and if you feel unwell don’t come in.
