Second YDS in Dunfermline, 8 December 2019

The second YDS competition of this season saw six young EFC fencers in Dunfermline this Sunday, 8th December.

Aleks Reznik was the youngest foilist of the team. He came fourth out of the poule of six U11 boy with 2v 3d, to end fifth after the DEs.

Sophie Macdonald finished the poule of seven U13 girls with 2v 4d in sixth place, which she kept through the DEs. It was her firsts YDS competition and the U13 girls field has some very strong fencers with several years of fencing and competition experience. So well done, Sophie.

Two Scotisch Fencing Awards for EFC

Congratulations to Chloe Dickson and Gavin McMenemy for their awards from Scotish Fencing!

Congratulations to Gavin on being awarded the Crosnier Award for Coaching Achievement. Very well deserved!

And Chloe did not only win two medals at the Scotish Open (silver in foil and bronze in sabre), she was also awarded the Crosnier Quaich in recognition of outstanding individual performance. Well done!

EFC Results - Scottish Open, 30 Nov. & 1 Dec. in Largs

Women's Epee Results - Copenhagen, 30 Nov. & 1 Dec.

Congratulations to Keira Papadopoulos for her results in the 8th Copenhagen Cadet Circuit in Hellerup, Denmark. In the individuals on Saturday she emerged from the pools with 4v2d, then won DE bouts in the last 128, last 64 and last 32 before being eliminated in the last 16 to finish 16th out of 130.

The following day, Keira represented Great Britain in the GBR1 Team. The girls were undefeated, eliminating Austria in the last 16, Sweden in the last 8, GBR2 in the semi-finals and defeating Israel 45-35 to take Team Gold!

No training sessions over Christmas

Just a wee reminder, that the hall will be closed over Christmas and New Year. The last training session is on Thursday, 19th December 2019 and training resumes on Tuesday, 14th January 2020. So there will be three full weeks of no fencing!

Amendment on 11/12/2019: Training resumes on Tuesday 7th of January already, but there will be no Open Fencing session on Thursday 16th.

Foil Competition Results - Cadet BRC Bristol, 17th November

Ellen Buckley and Hannah Fielding represented EFC at the British Ranking Competition in Bristol with Hannah making the L16 to finish 9th and Ellen making the L32 to finish 17th.

Edinburgh Fencing Club EGM on Tuesday, 26th November

An Edinburgh Fencing Club EGM will be held on Tuesday 26 November at Edinburgh Fencing Club, 7pm for a 7.15pm start and aiming to finish at 8.30pm (there will be space to fence available for those not interested in EGM business).

The EGM discussion is open to all interested parties: committee members, club coaches, senior fencers, cadet fencers, parents and guardians of cadet fencers and visiting fencers and coaches. Voting is open to members aged 17+ and is by simple majority.

Foil U23 Competition Results - Gdansk, 16th November

Ines Kirsten fenced in this European U23 event in Gdansk, Poland. She won 4 out of 6 bouts in her pool for promotion to the L64 where she eliminated her Polish opponent 15-7 before losing to a Russian 4-15 in the L32 to finish 23rd out of 70.
