Update 26 June: EFC Remains Closed


EFC Remains Closed Until Further Notice


Today marks the end of term for many Edinburgh schools which would normally also mean a move to our summer timetable, and the Wednesday Cadet classes taking their annual summer break. As we operate out of a school our Let is managed by Edinburgh Leisure. Unfortunately to date, we have not had any indication from Edinburgh Leisure or the City of Edinburgh Council of when we may be able to expect School Lets to resume.

Club remains closed - Update on 22.5.20

Dear EFC Fencers,

We hope this update finds you well, and that you are looking forward to the slight easing of non-contact outdoor restrictions with the move to Phase 1 from 28th May, as announced by the Scottish Government on the 21st May.

The Club Is Closed Until Further Notice

All EFC Sessions are Cancelled, the club is now Closed.

Many of you will have received an email update from British Fencing, for others, it can be found here.

They key part is as follows:

We are open!

All sessions are currently on and are likely to remain so, unless the schools close.

However if you are social distancing or self isolating, Please Stay Away.

Keira Papadopoulos fencing for Great Britain!

EFC’s epee fencer Keira Papadopoulos is off to the Cadet European Championships in Porec, Croatia 21st-27th February. Only the top 4 GB fencers in each weapon are selected for the championships, so a great achievement! Good luck to her!

EUFC Epee Workshop on 27th December - CANCELLED

EUFC is hosting an Epee workshop with Maestro Roberto Simeone on 27th December from 10am to 5.40pm at The Pleasance Sports Complex & Gym.

Second YDS in Dunfermline, 8 December 2019

The second YDS competition of this season saw six young EFC fencers in Dunfermline this Sunday, 8th December.

Aleks Reznik was the youngest foilist of the team. He came fourth out of the poule of six U11 boy with 2v 3d, to end fifth after the DEs.

Sophie Macdonald finished the poule of seven U13 girls with 2v 4d in sixth place, which she kept through the DEs. It was her firsts YDS competition and the U13 girls field has some very strong fencers with several years of fencing and competition experience. So well done, Sophie.

Two Scotisch Fencing Awards for EFC

Congratulations to Chloe Dickson and Gavin McMenemy for their awards from Scotish Fencing!

Congratulations to Gavin on being awarded the Crosnier Award for Coaching Achievement. Very well deserved!

And Chloe did not only win two medals at the Scotish Open (silver in foil and bronze in sabre), she was also awarded the Crosnier Quaich in recognition of outstanding individual performance. Well done!
