Calum Wins Merseyside

Congratulations to Calum 'CJ' Johnstone, who won the Merseyside Open on Sunday 14 February, representing Edinburgh Fencing Club. The competition had a good entry of 72.

Scottish Open Results - 2016

Edinburgh Fencing Club Women's Foil finalists at the Scottish Open

Congratulations to all of our fencers who competed at the Scottish Open weekend! Here are some of the stand-out results:

Chloe Dickson retained the Women's Foil title for the second year running.

Ruth Clarke came 2nd, and Katie Smith and Lucy Taylor came 3rd to complete an all-EFC women's foil final.

Victoria Duxbury also gained a L8 in women's foil and Richard Rapier achieved a L8 in men's sabre.

Congratulations too to all the fencers from other clubs who train with us at EFC.

 

 

 

Start fencing in 2016!

Ever wanted to try fencing? Well, now you can!

Edinburgh Fencing Club are running a 9-week adult beginners course from 14 January to 10 March.

You'll receive 9 weeks of fencing classes led by Coach Alex. Classes run on Thursday nights from 7pm to 9pm.

You'll also get: your own fencing glove to keep, social membership with Scottish Fencing and entry into The Edinburgh Open.

All for just £75 (worth over £110!).

Youth Classes - summer holidays

Our Wednesday and Thursday classes are on holiday for the summer.  Classes will resume on Wednesday 19 August and Thursday 20 August.

 

The club is still running on Tuesdays and Thursdays so you are welcome to come down for some fencing over the holidays!

 

Well done for all your hard work last year, and we look forward to seeing you in the new term.

Christmas 2014

The last night for the club is Thursday 18th December, the last Wednesday Cadet night is Wednesday 17th December.

The first day back at club is Tuesday 6th January but the Cadets don't start again until the following week i.e. Wednesday 14th January.

EFC Success in PaFF League

Young Edinburgh Fencing Club members competed at the 12th quarterly Plastic and Foam Fencing (PaFF) Fun League on the 17th of May. This was the biggest event ever ran by PaFF, and the EFC contingent were able to fence against a selection of 64 children from all around Scotland.

EFC fielded its best PaFF entry yet and did very well, finishing as the second overall club behind North Merchiston. Special congratulations go to Sasha, who was awarded the prestigious Bracewell Trophy for Form and Technique in recognition of her technical abilities.

As the school is not available on Wednesday 28th May there will be no club that night.

Inverclyde Open 2014 - Change of Dates

Edinburgh Fencing Club has moved the tournament date from the weekend commencing Friday 30 May to the weekend commencing Friday 18 July.
